Mission
We’re building a movement to ensure that formerly incarcerated people can have a fair chance to housing. By creating equal opportunities for housing applicants, we can ensure that formerly incarcerated residents aren’t boxed out of housing and have a stable and healthy life upon release. Led by Just Cities/The Dellums Institute for Social Justice, we support the empowerment of directly-impacted residents to be their own advocates and subject-matter experts.

Meet Your Neighbors
Mass incarceration and an unfair criminal justice system means that almost everyone in our community is somehow touched by this issue. Our family members, colleagues, classmates, and community members are being unfairly denied housing because of their past. Alameda County currently has over 8,000 people on probation or parole that need access to stable housing. The Fair Chance to Housing Campaign is a high-impact, collaborative team of activists, policy wonks, clergy, and government leaders committed to making restorative justice real for formerly incarcerated people. We’re passionate about designing winning campaigns where directly impacted people with lived experience lead the way.
